Busy with regular tapings for 100 Days to Heaven and Good Vibes, Dominic admitted that he has his hands full in both his professional and personal life as he is also preparing to become a father for the first time. His wife Denise is seven months pregnant with a baby boy whom they plan to name Jose Alesandro. “I’m really excited about it. I’m not getting any younger. I’m of age already so parang gusto ko na talaga. And it’s a baby boy so how can you not be thankful to the Lord and yung binigay niyang biyaya. I want a girl after. Sabi ng asawa ko, ‘Ikaw kaya magbuntis ng siyam na buwan?’ (laughs). I was thinking of naming him Juan Miguel pero parang one of those names lang so Alesandro na lang para something different. It’s an Italian name,” he shared.
Dominic also shared how he manages to spend quality time with his family despite a demanding showbiz schedule. “Sundays is really family day for me. I visit my parents. We visit my wife’s parents. We go to church, eat out, and we spend time together. Ito yung quality time namin with each other. We try to make it a point na eto yung time with the Lord, time as a couple. Para lang maalis sa utak yung trabaho. She’s in the business also. She does makeup so parang ganun din yung negosyo,” he explained.
The 36-year-old actor, who plays antagonist to child actress Xyriel Manabat in 100 Days to Heaven, said that although he is used to playing villain roles, he can’t help but be affected by the negative energy from his characters offscreen sometimes. “I’m the same naman, kenkoy din pero lately nga, I was telling my wife, may pagka-seryoso na rin ako. Yung tipong if I don’t get what I want, parang kailangan ko makuha yung gusto kong gawin. Hindi ko alam bakit ganun, siguro because of the roles rin I’ve been getting lately, yung pagka-kontrabida, nagiging kontrabida ako ‘pag minsan. Siguro it comes with the roles rin siguro that I’m doing, which I hate because nadadala ako, na-i-imbibe ko ng konti eh. Medyo tamed nga ito role ko ngayon then yung sa ginawa ko sa Rosalka. Ang asim kong tao dun eh. Ito at least medyo makatotohanan,” he admitted.
Having been in showbiz ever since he started in the show Gimik in 1996, Dominic said he has always been happy with the way his career has been managed by Star Magic and Backroom. “Hindi na ako aalis dun. Kahit ayaw na nila sa akin, hindi rin ako aalis (laughs). Supposedly, ayoko naman talaga mag-artista eh. It wasn’t really in my dictionary to become an artista but wala lang, siguro ito yung destiny ko na mag-entertain ng tao and I’m enjoying it so much. Sobra-sobrang enjoy na enjoy ako dito sa ginagawa ko. Every role na ibinibigay sa akin, parang it’s a challenge for me on how to make it different from the roles given to me before. I’m happy with the management. Itong negosyo namin, its either you make it or you don’t eh. It’s up to you. Actually hindi rin it’s up to you eh, it’s right timing, it’s also yung tiyaga mo, yung patience mo sa pagbigay sa iyo ng trabaho. At saka you can never go wrong, you’re with ABS-CBN. Ganun naman yung negosyo natin eh, honestly all you have to do is just wait, don’t transfer. Well, kanya-kanya siguro. Medyo nawalan ako ng show sa channel 2 pero actually kung tutuusin, meron din eh. Siguro hindi lang napanuod because it was an afternoon show, that was in 2007, yun yung anak ko si Coco Martin, yung Ligaw na Bulaklak. Hindi ko masasabi sa sarili ko na nawalan ako…yearly talaga meron. Hindi ako nababakante.”
