John Lloyd Cruz and Jennylyn Mercado - Exclusive Star Cinema Interview

Earlier today, an exclusive interview was posted on the official Star Cinema YouTube account with the newest cross promotional loveteam of Box Office and Film Royalty John Lloyd Cruz and Jennylyn Mercado.

Jennylyn dyed her hair dark black for her role. She plays Aki (sp?) which is a ground crew member and John Lloyd plays the role of a pilot with high aspirations. Will love happen for two people from two different worlds? You betcha!
 
They talked about their first time meeting was their first scene together (commonplace for Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina projects, her style) and that they both admired one another and their respective acting abilities.

In finally working with Jennylyn, John Lloyd Cruz was, "I've been dying to work with (her)' and to that she said 'Totoo ba?' with a giggle. Jennylyn for her part said that she has been a fan of Lloydy for the longest and pretty much seen all of his films.She didn't believe she was working with him until the cameras started rolling.

 John Lloyd Cruz mentioned that they were supposed to be in a film before but that fell through. Luckily the stars aligned and even if Jennylyn isn't a Kapamilya, she will be able to do a project under the Star Cinema banner and to play opposite the one and only John Lloyd Cruz.

Is this the start of a certified Kapamilya transfer for Kapuso leading lady? Unfortunately no. Its for a still untitled Star Cinema film but she is still under GMA Artist Center.

At least we will get to see two of the most talented artistas of this generation in a project together and its under the ABS banner so we know it will be a bonafide blockbuster hit.

What do we know of the film thus far? Not much except that the director will be Cathy Garcia-Molina and it is tentatively scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide in March.

Gerald Anderson, Arci Munoz and Jane Oineza in 'Always Be My Maybe' film soon!

Three of ABS-CBN's biggest young stars - Gerald Anderson, Arci Munoz and Jane Oineza will be in an upcoming Star Cinema film and it is tentatively entitled 'Always Be My Maybe.'

This will be the first time these actors will be in the same project together. Arci's character is a makeup artist that has a relationship with Gerald's character.

Jane' Oineza's role has yet to be revealed.

The release date of the film will be post-Valentines Day and directed by Dan Villegas.

Piolo Pascual, Dawn Zulueta and Coleen Garcia film in the works!

For the first time ever, we will have Piolo Pascual, Dawn Zulueta and Coleen Garcia in this untitled project together.

They recently held a press conference for the film and this is a short synopsis of the characters.

Coleen Garcia: "I'm a young socialite who crosses paths with Ms. Dawn's character, and somehow we develop a friendship...  and at the same time, I have a non-labeled relationship with Piolo's character."

Piolo Pascual:  'he is playing the role of DJ, who has been around the world backpacking, does not have a sense of responsibility and loves to party...  until he crosses path with Ms. Dawn's character... that's when he starts to change. He finds some meaning to life.. parang she gives him a reason for living and at the same time siya ang maglalagay ng kulay sa mundo niya."

Dawn Zulueta: 'She is a married fashion designer and dahil sa kanyang career she meets the characters of Coleen and Piolo."

The director of this film will be Gino M. Santos. He has worked with Coleen prior before in Ex with Benefits. This will be produced by Star Cinema.

Star Cinema's Everything About Her starring Vilma Santos, Angel Locsin & Xian Lim

'The Star For All Seasons'  Vilma Santos is back in a Star Cinema film alongside Angel Locsin and Xian Lim dubbed 'Everything About Her.' It follows the plight of a powerful woman in control of everything until it all changes when she learns she is dying of 'the big C' aka cancer. She meets her match with her personal nurse (Angel Locsin). Xian Lim plays the son Albert of Vilma Santos in this movie and is the odd pairing as a loveteam for Angel here.

Luis Manzano was Direk Joyce's first choice the play the son of his mom in this film and to play opposite with his girlfriend Angel but he felt it hit too close to home so he turned it down. Xian Lim was the replacement.

Directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal and in theatres January 27, 2016 in cinemas nationwide.

Commentary: Why Xian Lim? There are plenty of other leading men to play opposite Gel and Vilma? Why not Jericho Rosales? I have faith in the narrative and even if I don't agree with the choice of leading men, I will definitely come out and support the film... as you should.

MANILA, Philippines – Actress KC Concepcion said she is happy because a number of Kapamilyas abroad went out of their way to attend the international premiere of her movie with actor Sam Milby in New York.



Concepcion arrived in Manila Tuesday and told “Showbiz News Ngayon” that she is very grateful for the support “Forever and a Day” is receiving.

“Maraming nagpunta so nakakatuwa kasi marami rin talaga palang Pilipino sa Amerika. Nagpapasalamat kami siyempre sa producer namin...dahil sa kanya, sa tiwala niya sa amin at sa pelikula, nadala namin sa New York ang Forever and a Day,” she said.

Meanwhile, Concepcion clarified why Milby was not with her.

“Si Sam binisita ang daddy niya sa Ohio because nagkasakit ang daddy niya, naospital. I think he said it sa Twitter niya. I think he’s there na with his family and araw araw niyang kausap sa telepono ang mga magulang niya,” she said.

In a separate interview, Milby said since he’s already in US, he decided to visit his family and spend time with them.

“Nakakatakot ngayon. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard of him actually being confined in the hospital. He’s 66 years old and he’s very strong.... I’m going to go home before I go back to the Philippines to spend some time with them,” he said.

Ai-Ai de las Alas says Vic Sotto agreed to have a kissing scene with her in their movie

Isa na namang award ang napanalunan ni Ai-Ai de las Alas bilang best actress sa kakatapos na PMPC Star Awards for Movies noong June 21. Ang award ng aktres ay para sa kanyang pagganap sa Tanging Ina N’yo: Last Na ‘To at ang mga kapwa niya nominado ay sina Bea Alonzo, Lorna Tolentino, Anne Curtis, Angelica Panganiban at Lovi Poe.



Sa sobrang kaba nga raw niya ay muntik na niyang makalimutang pasalamatan sa kanyang acceptance speech ang kanyang manager na si Boy Abunda. “Sa sobrang nerbiyos ko muntik ko pang makalimutan si Ama (tawag niya kay Boy). I love Boy Abunda, I love Ama, so much,” pambawi ni Ai-Ai later on sa interview.


Excited na rin ang Comedy Concert Queen sa kanyang susunod na film project na pagbibidahan nila ni Vic Sotto. Dagdag pa rito, magiging co-producer din sa pelikula si Ai-Ai kaya doble ang excitement niya. “In every project ko naman talagang tinitingnan ko naman, nakakapagpaligaya ako ng sambayanang Pilipino. ‘Yun lang naman ang akin, ang masaya silang lalabas ng sinehan na, ‘Hay, nakakatuwa naman si Bossing, nakakatuwa si Ai-Ai.’”

May blessing na rin daw si Bossing Vic na pwede silang magkaroon ng kissing scene ni Ai-Ai sa gagawin nilang pelikula. “’Yun lang naman din ang gusto din niya, huwag lang daw siyang ikakasal sa akin,” biro ni Ai-Ai. “Pwes, abangan n’yo ‘yun. Magtutukaan kami. Sabi nga ni Eugene Domingo, ayoko raw ng pabilog, eh pahaba naman ngayon,” pagpapatawa niya na tinutukoy na parehong mahaba ang baba nila ni Vic.

Nagkaroon din daw sila ng kasunduan na gagawa sila ni Cesar Montano ng isang indie movie pero wala pang definite plans. “Within our lifetime,” joke ni Ai-Ai.

Direk Cathy is happy with the positive feedback on Sam Milby and KC Concepcion’s first movie team-up

During the premiere night of Forever And A Day, director Cathy Garcia-Molina admitted that she was really nervous of how moviegoers would respond to Sam Milby and KC Concepcion’s first movie team-up. She had been very vocal about being challenged to bring out the best in her two lead stars, especially because this is her first time to do a romantic drama. “Hindi na nga ako tumitingin sa audience eh. Natakot ako sa reaction ng tao. Pero napansin ko, they were really quiet and attentive during the emotional scenes of KC and Sam’s characters. Natuwa ako kasi ibig sabihin they were trying to listen [to the dialogue] and I felt that they really appreciate KC and Sam's performance. If I may say so, na-showcase naman talaga yung galing nila and they have all the right to be called actors.”

True to her word, Direk Cathy made sure that Sam’s onscreen presence would have a similar impact to that of John Lloyd Cruz in A Very Special Love. At the same time, viewers would be surprised with the depth of emotion that Sam has given his role. “Gwapo talaga si Sam and magaling ang director of photography ko, si Dan Villegas. Pero extraordinary nga ang pagkagwapo ni Sam sa pelikula, may glow. I think nakatulong na gusto niya yung story of Eugene. Plus, he knows that he needs this project. He knows that he has to give more kasi pang-anim niya ng pelikula ito at pang-apat na niya sa akin [na siya ang bida]. So I’m sure naghahanap na din yung tao na, ‘Ano naman ang pwede mo mong mabigay?’ And I believe hindi kayo mabibigo. Sam was able to give more than what he has given in the past.”

Direk Cathy was equally proud of KC whom she had to be very strict with. Since it was their first time to work together, she told KC that she’s the type of director who doesn’t give special treatment even to showbiz royalties. “I am so happy kasi hinayaan niya akong i-control siya, i-guide siya. Malaking bagay sa aming mga director na pumapayag ang artistang magpadirek. Kasi ang tanging mabibigay ko kay KC yung emotion—dito ka manggagaling, dito ka pupunta. And I am so happy kasi yung ibang nuances sa kanya na galing. I am glad na lumalabas na yung naturalesa niya bilang artista. I didn’t have to spoon-feed everything. Nung umpisa ganon e, pero nung pumasok na siya sa character niya, naging natural na yung flow ng emotions nila.”

When asked what’s next after filming Forever And A Day, Direk Cathy revealed that she’s open to do more serious films in the future. “Basta huwag lang family drama, yun ang iniiwasan ko eh. Pero heavy drama na love stories, okay sa akin,” she beamed.
