The 18 year old Cavite Worship Leader dethroned our champion in a controversial ending to some on social media. Was there really an issue with the song of Rachel or was it the band that messed up her performance?

No matter what, Rachel still is guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals alongside Dominador Alviola Jr.  She also amassed P195,000 in her long standing reign. Will Tiangco continue on with his winning ways? I will certainly keep you all posted!

Gerald Anderson, Arci Munoz and Jane Oineza in 'Always Be My Maybe' film soon!

Three of ABS-CBN's biggest young stars - Gerald Anderson, Arci Munoz and Jane Oineza will be in an upcoming Star Cinema film and it is tentatively entitled 'Always Be My Maybe.'

This will be the first time these actors will be in the same project together. Arci's character is a makeup artist that has a relationship with Gerald's character.

Jane' Oineza's role has yet to be revealed.

The release date of the film will be post-Valentines Day and directed by Dan Villegas.

Cable Channel Cinemo's first comedy series 'Funny Ka Pare Ko'

Funny Ka Pare Ko stars Kapamilya talents Karla Estrada, Bayani Agbayani, Jayson Gainza and "Funny One" winner Ryan Rems amongst others from Funny One on ITS SHOWTIME.

This comedy will be seen on SKY Cable, Destiny Cable and ABS-CBN TVplus providers.

We are down to the Final 5 of Dance Kids! Were these your picks too?  The top five dance artists: Lucky Aces, Step Kids, Keziah Abulad, Dhao Mac Macasipot, and Higher Level Kids.

Next week are the live semi-finals of Dance Kids. Will your favorite remain after the dancefloor dust settles?  After next week's semifinal perfomance, the dance masters will pick three out of the five remaining dance artists.

Bailey May's releases first self-titled album!

“Pinoy Big Brother 737” 4^th Teen Big Placer Bailey May is currently part of On The Wings of Love as Harry and now has his own self-titled album under the Star Music label.

Bridges of Love dubbed in Spanish for Peruvian television!

ABS-CBN's phenomenal Primetime Bida hit soap Bridges of Love that starred Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino is being dubbed in Spanish for Peruvian tv.  The Spanish title will be 'Puentes de Amor' and is internationally distributed by 7A Media.

Donna Cruz - Star Music Contract Signing!

On Tuesday, she had a contract signing with Star Music for her first album since Hulog Ng Langit in 1999.

She was a huge actress and singer in the '90s and has now resurfaced in ABS-CBN after a stint on TV5. Hopefully one day, she will appear in a Kapamilya teleserye real soon.
 
According to her Wikipedia page, at age twenty, Cruz was the highest paid exclusive VIVA artist (in the VIVA Entertainment talent roster) in history, with earnings of ₱77 million in 1997 alone. She is the most successful OPM female artist of the 1990s, with combined album sales of over 300,000 units throughout her nine years as an active recording artist, and her movies totaling a gross of ₱900 million in the local box office.

Coleen Garcia is no longer on ITS SHOWTIME?

According to ABS-CBNnews, Coleen Garcia admitted  she will not be returning to part of ITS SHOWTIME at this time and will be focusing on her acting career this 2016.  She already has an upcoming untitled Star Cinema film with Piolo Pascual and Dawn Zulueta in the works and playing Jaime Elizondo on the daytime hit serye Pasion de Amor.

Coleen was quoted as saying: "Actually, I was barely ever there during the entire second half of 2015"I don't think I'll be returning. Management talked to me and they want me to focus on acting."

Coleen Garcia has been a part of ITS SHOWTIME for a little over 3 years now and is currently dating ITS SHOWTIME main host Billy Crawford.

LUV U ends its near 4 year run on the air!

LUV U started off like a standard episode but it ended with a surprise LUV U sing along with the cast and cast photos alongside a LUV U Forever sign. This was surprisingly the final episode of the long running comedy show.

The final episode of LUV U became one of the most talked about topics on Twitter in the Philippines when it aired.
After being on air for four years, the ABS-CBN teen comedy series aired its final episode on Sunday which was shot in Baguio.

The whole cast also performed the LUV U theme song before the show ended. 

Using the hashtag “LuvUPaalam,” Filipino netizens took to social media to express what they feel about the show’s ending.

On ABSCBNnews: Miles Ocampo via Instagram said... "Posting a photo with the rest of the show’s cast members, Ocampo wrote in the caption: “MAMI-MISS KO ang gumising ng umaga tuwing Monday, ang mag script reading, ang asaran, ang foodtrip, ang tawanan, ang friendship at ang nabuong pamilya.”

She then thanked everyone on the show for the “sad and happy memories.” Ocampo, likewise, thanked “Luv U” viewers for avidly following the show for four years.

“THANK YOU sa mga experiences, sa sad and happy memories, sa mga pagturo ng maraming lessons at sa pagbibigay saakin ng pagmamahal.. Sa lahat po ng sumuporta sa LUV U sa loob ng 4 NA TAON, maraming maraming salamat po sainyong lahat,” she said.

Former PBB737 housemate Dawn Chang made her acting debut as Elaine on Ang Probinsyano this past Friday. She will be the latest female to join Madam Olga's (Gina Pareno) women in her private brothel alongside Carmen (Bela Padilla) and other Kapamilya artistas Myrtle Sarrosa and Sunshine Garcia.  She was being targeted by Madame's goons before she encountered Jason Francisco who played a simple taxi driver.

Will Zeus Collins make an appearance as her boyfriend or something since they seemed to be attached at the hip in ABS like they were in the PBB house and then on ITS SHOWTIME on a daily basis?

Ningning Finale: TFCG's Thoughts and Observations

Ningning ended Friday and I am indeed sad to see it go.

I fell in love with this cast and their daily predicaments (Ningning at school, with Macmac, Mamay and Mang Chris' romance, Eva and Otep's relationship, Nina and Pido's budding romance, Lola Beau's missing her apo Cookie and adopting her and Macmac as her own, Isla Baybay vs. Maynila, Passing of Lovely and Don-Don's daily struggle to take care of his daughter as well as the eventual blinding of our beloved Maningning Angeles).

Positives:

• Everything seemed open and shut when it came to the storylines.
• Seeing the progress of the characters (Nanay Isha and Tatay Johnny working at Mang Chris' Paraiso and TapsiQ, Eva's belly growing larger, Nina texting Pido about their relationship after she graduates, Teacher Hope and Lolo Kiko helping teach the blind in their home, etc)
• Final tracking shot of Dondon and Ningning in Isla Baybay. Was that a crane or that new fangled drone technology?

Negatives:

• Why wasn't Marco Gumabao as Pido available to be in the episode except through text? Was he filming another soap? Maybe Luv U? Why couldn't they had him do a voiceover or a quick Skype call? I wanted to see him surprise Nina and say he was going to go to school in the PH for her and their relationship. I do hope to see them paired together in a future project.
• Anyone wanted a fastforward into the future to possibly see what Ningning and MacMac turned out to be? Since John Steven aka Macmac was known as MiniMe Vhong Navarro would it be a stretch to see Vhong as older Macmac and Anne as older Ningning?
• Where were the bloopers and outtakes? It seemed incomplement for an ABS soap to end with no bloopers, right?

Pinoys on TV: Nico Santos as Mateo on NBC's Superstore

First of all, thank you to Balitang America for making me take noticed that the hilarious new NBC workplace comedy Superstore (Cloud 9 that resembles a Walmart without saying Walmart) had a Pinoy in it. The teasers were funny and knowing Nico is Filipino is another reason I wanted to tune in (we should all support our kababayans diba?) You might have remembered Nico Santos in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 or Go-Go Boy Interrupted.

What I love about Nico as Mateo in Superstore is his dry wit and clever comebacks. Whether or not his character is gay is unsubstantial, he complements a diverse cast of characters which is headed by America Ferrara and Ben Feldman. He is also quick to say he is Filipino or act in very Pinoy ways (hard worker, tends to be a bit talkative, visible accent).

If you are in the US or have Netflix or other outlets to check out Superstore, I highly recommend it. Not only is there a highly entertaining Pinoy part of is cast but you will have a great time. No real heavy scenes and they also poke fun at stereotypes in a non-offensive manner.

Danita Paner on Ipaglaban Mo, freelance or certified Kapamilya na?

Danita Paner is finally appearing on an ABS drama and its Ipaglaban Mo this weekend. She will be playing opposite Arron Villaflor who is currently Doc Henry on the hit Primetime drama All Of Me. Danita has guested on a game show or two as well as live guestings but that is about it. IM will be her first foray into Kapamilya dramas. Is this is a sign she is open to do work on ABS as a freelance artist or is she moving to ABS as a certified Kapamilya?

Danita Paner is known for her singing prowess as well as her acting/hosting on TV5/GMA programming. She is the daughter of former PBA player Manny Paner and actress Daisy Romualdez and her sister is Kristina Paner.

Commentary: This would be a great move for her in her career if she follows the path of the likes of Meg and Arci Munoz. She would also be a solid addition to ASAP.

Anyone notice that Ipaglaban Mo has become an audition platform for artistas trying to break it in ABS? Polo Ravales, Arci Munoz and a few others have done the same.

Pinoys on TV: Louriza Tronco aka Jodi Mappa on Nick's Make It Pop

Louriza Tronco is currently Jodi Mappa on Nickelodeon's smash hit musical teen comedy show Make It Pop.

MIP is a groundbreaking show for not only Filipinos but Asians for that matter.  This is the very first program in American television history to have three lead Asian females from three different ethnic backgrounds. Erika Tham who plays Corki on the show was quoted as saying,

'I’m Malaysian and Chinese by blood. My mom is Dutch and Ukrainian, so I’m mixed. And Louriza, who plays Jodi, is Filipino. [Lee is Korean.] So our show has three lead actors that are all Asian, but from different countries in Asia. So I think it’s very unique to see that on kids’ television, but a main message in our show is to follow your dreams, and I think that should apply to everyone, regardless of what race you are or what age you are or anything like that.'

Louriza is especially happy to part of this cast:

'It's cool because my family is from the Philippines. I'm just honored to be a part of a series like this. I think what's important what people should know is the casting is that they casted people who could tell their stories the best. Not supposedly who is Chinese or whose Filipino. Our creator didn't know if he wanted a Filipino or a Caucasian or anything. He told me he chose me because he thought I could tell Jodi's story the best with my dance training and my dry sense of humor.'

Commentary:   Not only is it great to see a Filipino in such a major role on tv but for Asians for that matter. Fun fact, did you know that the OC was suppose to be an all Asian cast but it ended up being a majority white cast like every other show on tv at that time for that matter? 

My issue with her role as Jodi Mappa is that there has yet to be a reference to her being Filipino. Hopefully the writers let her explore her Filipino culture, maybe bring up Filipino culture, clothes, maybe tinikling dances or the candle dance?

Make It Pop is currently in its second season on Nickelodeon and continues to be a ratings hit.

Vice Ganda is the official 4th and final judge of PGT5!

We are now complete. The 4th and final judge is none other than the Box Office juggernaut himself Vice Ganda. Pilipinas Got Talent is getting better and better.

Commentary: I have not been more excited for a PGT since the initial launching. Can't wait for its maiden voyage on January 23rd.

PGT Season 5 with FMG and new judges Angel Locsin, Robin Padilla and...???

It is almost that time again for Pilipinas Got Talent to finally come back to the airwaves.  The teasers for Season 5 started playing online and on air a few days ago to a mixed reaction from viewers. Some were happy to see it come back because of the many discoveries from that program while others said that that Voice Philippines and other reality shows exist so why do they need this one to come back. While a lingering sentiment on the board (forums.abs-cbn.com) is just to move on from it since it seemed like the winners would always be singers. I would oust singers myself but that's just me.

This time around it appears that Kris Aquino and Ai-Ai delas Alas are out and the only remaining judge is Freddy M Garcia or better known to the public as FMG. To the surprise and elation of rhe general public we now know that Angel Locsin and Robin Padilla are the newest judges with one more judge yet to be announced.  Could it be Vice Ganda as rumored? Or maybe it could be Cesar Montano? Maybe Edu Manzano? Direk Laurenti? Jolina Magdangal?

Goodbye Greta, welcome back Claudia Buenavista!

It was just a matter of time but the Queen of Mean, Claudia Buenavista has risen from the ashes. Well not literally but she is back. Simon couldn't stop what was going to happen no matter how he tried.

In the beginning, she was having flashes of differing images and she heard the name Amor and her blood started boiling but couldn't pinpoint why. Then she chanced upon Amor and Eduardo in a church and was upset but why. What triggered her memory was an incident in a taxi and then Claudia was reborn.

What will happen now that Claudia is back on the scene? When will she appear to her family? Will she be hiding and ruin the wedding? Will she go after Amor and Yna simultaneously?

Commentary: Nothing short of brilliant when it came to Claudia's breakdown/realization scene. This is why Angelica will always be one of the top actresses of our generation.

Lia Buenavista: Like Mother, Like Daughter!

Finally Lia (Andrea prefer calling her Blythe) is no longer just a lapdog for those Mean Girls in her school and we see the fangs come out just like a little Claudia Buenavista! On Thursday's episode we see more of the mean streak when it came to her encounter with Yna's little brother. She didn't appreciate the way he talked about his mother after she called his family a family of criminals and a scuffle soon ensued at the engagement party of Gov and Amor Powers.

When will Lia finally accept Amor and Yna's family? Or will she continue her evil ways once she finds out that her mother is really alive after all?

Commentary: I utterly hated how Blythe's character of Lia was just a stooge to these typical Mean Girl for the second chapter of Pangako Sa'Yo. Week in and week out she did their bidding just to get 'cred' at their school? She doesn't need that and I am happy her lines have more fire. She is an unbelievable young actress and she needs lines like tonight to further cement why she is one of the stars to watch from now and to years to come in ABS-CBN! Go sis Blythe, keep up the fierce Lia!

The Master Showman of Walang Tulugan German Moreno better known as Kuya Germs has passed away. He died Friday morning at 3:20AM Philippine time, January 8th.  According to a statement by his nephew John Nite,Kuya Germs died of cardiac arrest. He was with shi family and friends at the time.

“We are deeply saddened by his passing but we are comforted by the thought that his legacy will live on,” Nite said.

Kuya Germs had been a Philippine showbiz institution for well over 50 years doing it all. His program That's Entertainment in the 1980s launched the careers of Judy Ann Santos, Donita Rose, Alma Moreno, Sheryl Cruz, Billy Crawford amongst others.

You will be certainly miss Kuya Germs.He was 82.

'Be My Lady' starring DanRich starts January 18th!

There is now a confirmed date for Daniel Matsunaga and Erich Gonzales' soap Be My Lady and it is January 18th! Get ready for a whole new level of kilig with your beloeved DanRich tentatively taking the timeslot of Ningning that is finishing next week.

Diether Ocampo and Claudine Barretto reunite in a TV5 soap!

Why is this not on ABS-CBN? Not sure how this one will rate on the Kapatid network but Vic del Rosario, head of Viva Entertainment confirmed that Claudine and Diether will reunite on a soap dubbed Bakit Manipis ang Ulap,named after the 1985 film by the same name.

 It will also star Cesar Montano and Kapamilya young star Meg Imperial. It is scheduled for first quarter of 2016.
